Overview
The three cities seen through their spiritual history: the Uthman Quran and the madrasas of Tashkent, the Naqshbandi shrine and the 'Pillar of Islam' Bukhara, the necropolis of Shah-i-Zinda and the mausoleum of Imam al-Bukhari, compiler of the Sahih. Day 1
Arrival in Tashkent
Welcome at the airport, transfer to the hotel (rooms available from 14:00) and free time with guide and vehicle at your disposal.

Day 2
Tashkent's spiritual heart
Khast Imam complex: Barak Khan Madrasa, Tilla Sheikh Mosque, the Muyi Muborak library and the Uthman Quran. Chorsu Bazaar, the 16th-century Kukeldash Madrasa and a walk along Amir Temur Square. Breakfast and dinner.

Day 3
Flight to Bukhara
Morning flight and welcome by your local guide. Ismail Samani Mausoleum, Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum, Bolo-Hauz Mosque and the Ark citadel. Breakfast and dinner.

Day 4
Bukhara, pillar of Islam
Lyabi-Hauz with the Nadir Divan-Begi khanaka and madrasa, the Ulugbek and Abdulaziz Khan madrasas, the Poi-Kalyan complex and its mosque for 10,000 worshippers, Chor-Minor and the covered bazaars. Breakfast and dinner.

Day 5
Naqshbandi shrine, then Samarkand
The necropolis of Bahauddin Naqshbandi (1318–1389), founder of one of the most widespread Sufi orders, and Sitorai Mokhi-Khosa, the emirs' summer palace. Dinner of kuzacha kebab. Drive to Samarkand. Breakfast and dinner.

Samarkand
Gur-Emir, Registan Square, the Bibi-Khanym Mosque, Siab Bazaar, the 8th-century Khazrati Khizr Mosque and the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis with the tomb attributed to Qusam ibn Abbas. Breakfast and dinner.

Day 7
Imam al-Bukhari and train to Tashkent
Morning at the mausoleum of Imam al-Bukhari in Khartang, where the great hadith scholar was laid to rest in 870. Early evening Afrosiyob train to Tashkent. Breakfast and dinner.

Departure
Breakfast and transfer to Tashkent airport.
